Frequently Asked Questions
Why is this such an advantage? Can’t I just dray to Houston?
From Louisiana to Texas, it is extremely challenging to transport ISO tanks or other containers via truck that, when combined with the chassis and tractor, weigh more than 80,000 pounds. IBT enables customers to take full advantage of the benefits of shipping from the Port of Houston while still heavy-loading cargo.
No. IBT provides a barge for loading your cargo with a seven to ten-day lead time, either in Houston for inbound cargo or at our Baton Rouge facility for outbound cargo. Our barges are devoted exclusively to this service. This ensures that supply channels continue to operate efficiently and that there are no export delays.
Is the barge service just a weekly shuttle back and forth? Will I be waiting to get a barge?
What makes this different from other container-to-barge services?
IBT specializes in ISO containers and Dangerous Goods and provides clients in Louisiana with greater savings and improved service. No other barge service offers this as its core objective.
How expensive is the service?
Typically, once companies notice not only the reductions in dray and ocean freight costs but also the demurrage prevention and the increase in reliability, they discover a substantial amount of savings. Please call to schedule an appointment with us so we can assess your needs and provide a quote.
Can IBT service locations other than Baton Rouge or Houston?
This is always a possibility, and IBT is always willing to assist customers. Simply contact us and we will be glad to meet with you to discuss your needs.
